handlebar clamps

i went to fit risers to my bars earlier today, only to notice that the clamps hadn't been fitted correctly. further inspection revealed insufficiently tight bolts as well as poorly placed clamps. spoke to my dealer who said the bikes come with the bars already fitted, so this was a factory issue.

if this is indeed true, then other bikes may be affected, so i thought a 'heads up' on this forum might be in order, so you good people can check.

not wishing to teach 'granny to suck eggs' but if anyone is in doubt, there should be no gap at the front of the pinch clamps, only a gap at the rear and torque value is 19Nm. torque front two first and then rear two.

Why do they tell such lies

I traveled by Train from Kings Cross last week, saw lots of similar blokes with cameras and notepads on the end of Doncaster station as we pulled through.

Just wondering if sitting WasserHead spotting in dealers in a new variant of this ancient pastime?

hmmm, i had a feeling that was the case. not good! i really don't like being lied to. it's more annoying than the issue with the bike! the dealer in question is Riders in Cardiff. maybe others that have bought bikes from Riders need to check their bikes.

Here in the states they come in wood crates, not steel. And the handlebars are put on straight from the factory. I watched them open one up at my dealer.

Just rotated backwards ,

The first batches of bikes came into the UK on the wooden pallets , but what a waste, all the wood etc get thrown in the rubbish skip,

NOW ! the bikes almost fully assembled (think just the screen needs fitting) they roll the bars in position tighten up and wheel the bike out from the front of the crate, The lorry driver takes the crate back for the next delivery,
