Hi All
just a quick probably silly question, but having taken delivery of a 09 GS Adventure, and not having had BMW`s before, I notice it has no handlebar cross brace. I now I have seen it on older ones.
Have BMW removed this for 09 -
Looking on their website it is still shown on the 360 spin photo.
I havent been able to check back with supplying dealers as yet and there are no new bm`s nearby.
Other than that well pleased with it - and averaging 48mpg @ 70mph

It was dropped from the 08? models onwards, I think it's a different bar design in any case.

brace

It was dropped for the 09 GSA, i just brought the bike so got the brace and spongy cover from BMW, cost was £46 :augie

i missed this too, i thought it was a nice feature... anyone got the part numbers for the brace and the 'spongey' thing?

much appreciated

simple

call you local BMW dealer and say " i want the handle bar brace and cover for an 09 GSA " thats what i did and it worked for me :thumb2

cross brace from an 07 will NOT fit an 09. if you are ordering one make sure it is for the correct bars. The bars on the 09 ( I guess 08 as well ) are flatter than the 07.

bar

Here you go, fitted to my 09GSA

Part numbers are
c46.63.7.696.173 for the pad £14 plus vat

c71.60.7.701.942 for the handlebar strut £26.18 plus vat

I have a Renthal pad £8 posted if anyone interested. Forgot about it till I saw this thread. Black with lettering in white.

I bought the Touratech cross brace for my '09 bike, and its a lot shorter than the BMW one as pictured above. Wish I'd got this one now.

I didn' think of asking BMW if they did a brace for the '08 on bikes as assumed as they had dropped it as a standard fitting as not needed, they had stopped selling them. :blast

I do wish they'd get a decent accessories catalogue sorted.:type

Me too. The BMW one must be new for 2009 as they didn't do one when I asked last year. It looks to be much better.
