handlebars risers

I have the Wunderlichs. For me they are great. I am 6' and disabled having no right arm. No aches or issues on a 3,000 mile trip to Norway in May.

You have a riding technique problem. You shouldn't be leaning on the bars and risers are not the fix !!

Rider training is the answer. Try California Superbike.

That's a hell of a thing to say. Have you ridden a 600 or 1 000-class superbike anytime this century?
The riding position on bikes designed to be ridden fast deliberately puts as much of the rider's weight as possible, as forward as possible. Amongst other things, this is done specifically to increase rider feedback. This is why all three oil-cooled GSs I've owned have felt far more confidence-inspiring after rotating the bar mounts to the forward position. And this is why I was pissed off to see that BMW saw fit to move away from that mode of handlebar position adjustment.

And before you claim the GS and GSA weren't designed to be ridden this way, ask yourself why they gave it a claimed 125 BHP and dynamic abilities that let it breathe down the neck of said superbikes on roads with anything resembling bends?

More to the point: how do you know the guy has a 'riding technique problem'? Have you watched him in action? If not, from what position do you make this lofty judgement?

SiRich: a lot of us have problems with hand and wrist pain - especially on the right.
One thing I've found to help is fifteen minutes, twice a day, with those spring-loaded hand exercisers you buy in sporting-goods stores. Try combining that with consciously relaxing BOTH your hands every ten minutes or so.

Assistance & abuse welcome!

Good enough for you, sir? :thumb2

Slightly different issue for me: I've got the lowered GS at only 5 foot 2 it's a big bike (but loving it) on motorway rides, the back of my shoulders are aching & whilst focusing on relaxing etc helps to some extent I carnt help thinking that with the handlebars further back towards me, it may be more comfortable.

Any one know of handlebar 'risers' which bring the handlebars back ie not just a 20 up & 20 back?
Anyone tried them?
Anyone else with similar dwarf like characteristics wishing to 'customise' the reach?

3DX Motorradical (a South African company) make bar risers designed to rotate forwards and backwards in the original mounts. I'm betting there are no UK dealers as yet, but get in touch with them. I bet they'll ship if you ask nicely.

Alternatively, these may be what you're looking for. Made by Wunderlich.

Well said Personally I find my GSA comfy and can confirm this after an 8hr trip to Wales yesterday, but any form of adjustability to make your bike fit you is a good thing. Windy chuffer do you not adjust your car seat and steering wheel to suit or do you just jump in and adapt your driving to suit the car you get in.

We are all different so need different set ups that's why the levers are adjustable and seat and and.

+1 Well done, you saved me writing, pretty much, what you just wrote. Some people like to assume... :thumb
