Handling .... fully Loaded ?????

Off to the Greek Islands tomorrow via France , Switzerland, Italy, Croatia then down to Greek mainland and off to the islands.
Bike is fully loaded and heavy ..,,,,REALLY HEAVY !!! Anyone been on a trip yet and have experience of fully loaded LC?

2 weeks ago I did France, Italy and Switzerland with the vario panniers full and extended and the rear rack and pillion seat loaded too and the bike handled great, also never really needed more power, the bike never missed a beat have a great trip! Let us know how you go on as I want to ride to Kefalonia next year to see my folks.

I have ridden with luggage and a 8.5 stone pillion, just wound the pre-load and rear re-bound damping up to max and it handles beautifully, better than my twin-cam under the same load - the twin-cam felt like it was dragging it arse and the steering was slowed, the new bike still feels taught and rolls in and out bends like a good 'un.

This is with standard vanilla suspension with Tourance Next fitted.

Sounds like your first long trip. Chances are you have over packed. Everyone does. You can likely half what you have packed and still have stuff at the end of the trip that hasn't been used.

Have a nice trip though.

If you are concerned about the weight and handling its a bit late now isn't?

Perhaps you should have took it for a short ride and see how it felt before you left, doesn't matter now..

I took the LC on a jaunt to the Black Forest and back with a full load. It handled like a dream through the twisties and on motorways alike.

No ... Been across Europe twice, South America once and North America once. But yes the missus packs an amazing amount of crap also I am a pro photographer www.explorelight.com , Facebook.com / EXPLORELIGHT and my kits weighs a ton and tripod is strapped to side pannier exhaust side and rain gear to other side. So just a lot of kit and curious how the new bike handles with so much weight.

Update: Drogheda to Rosslare...... Kept it in rain mode, 2 helmets with luggage and reduced to 1 helmet for missus getting on and off and for getting on ferry.
Bike handled amazing. In rain mode it is less abrupt but still has load of power. 5500 revs cruising at 150 Kmh . Just ate the miles up and her indoors on the back was amazed we arrived so quickly as the stock seat is more than comfy enough. Nolan NCOM 103 worked a dream with passenger Comms and sat nav. Mpg about 51 which is good considering the load and speed. Love my GS ....

ESA on mine and feels a little softer than I would like but no issues and its eating up the miles in RAIN mode. First time using rain mode for more than 3 mins and I really like it given the load n the bike and passenger gets a smoother ride. Really impressed.

I did. I took it to wales for 3 days but it was not FULLY loaded with the stuff of a longer trip.

Your weight problem is totally excused then! As a keen amateur photographer i would be interested in knowing what camera bodies and lenses you have on you for your travels.
