I've just noticed the bike is gathering cobwebs!!

Anyone fancy joining me for a little jaunt??

The route will probably start out from winchester, heading west towards salisbury, followed by some twisty tarmac bits to Stapleford, where i'll be getting back on the trails and doing a loop of the 'plain, before (probably) getting lost behind tidworth, and then maybe head for home down some more lanes....

Any takers??

Nathan

Yes - that sound fun :thumb2

I blew my cobwebs away last weekend riding down to Wales and back after the bike being laid up for five weeks. However, the chance to play in the dirt sound too good to miss, especially since I havent been on the plain before

Either day if great for me, I will be comming from Oxford so please - not too early.

Nathan,

I would like to join you. What level do you intend the offroad bit to be ?

I am near Basingstoke.

I'm currently thinking of doing the sunday, about 10.00am start??

No problem johnny.

I'm planning on riding a real mix of trails, some will have some deep muddy ruts, while others will be hard packed gravel.

there are a few tricky parts to some of the trails, especially after todays rain, but this may well dry up if the wet stuff stays away for the rest of the week.

i think it's quite doable on an 1150, provided you have tkc's fitted, the screen removed, and a good sense of humour!!

As for riding level, you can go as fast or as slow as you want, the crack is to wait at the end of the trail so we can re-group again.

if your very quick, i'll warn you of any places that could be considered "sensitive" eg local houses, horses usually present ect, but once on the 'plain there is very little in the way to govern you. Just respect other trail users please, and watch out for the chalk if it's wet....

If your slow you won't get left behind. If you get stuck/crash well......i can't promise not to take a photo!!

If your really struggling i'll try and help. what will you be riding?

The last time i clocked the route it was about 100 miles.

See you sunday??

If i can finish putting the bike back together by then then would like to come, but be warned im not on a bmw.:augie

Where abouts in winchester are you meeting?

Nathan, yes, I'm in. See you on Sunday at 10am. I will be on my R1200GS.

Where do you want to meet ?

John

I'm going to wimp out

Nathan,

The weather is crap this morning and I don't have TKC's. Enjoy yourself, it's going to be wet and muddy.

John

Well i'm still going to be at the meeting place in case anyone turns up, with a view to doing some of the local lanes and see how it goes.

But your right. the weather is appalling!!

Johnny, i don't blame you at all. Good to see there is some common sense on this board! :thumb

Definitely a day for a pogo with knobblies....

Anyone mad enough to join me? (i'm won't feel hurt or offended if you say no!)

nathan

Im going to be on a xtz 750 with fairly good knobblies is that going to be to big?

It will certainly be a challenge! But if you have decent tyres then i can't see why you shouldn't get around without to much fuss. I think the main problem today will be visability..

ok dokey will set of then if it becomes a bit of a liability then i can always bail and head home.
