No problem! you made the right choice.:rob

Myself and another local guy called dave waited around for about half an hour, after which we figured you'd probably seen sense.

We did manage to get out to salisbury, but it was really slippery! theres not much that will have me off the XChallenge (usually it's down to my legs not being long enough), but this morning i put the bike down twice. :thedummy

On both occassions it was wet chalk that claimed me.

The going on the whole was really hard ground made incredibly slippery by all the recent rain we've had. it turned into one of those survival rides, until daves ktm threw it's spark plug out near sarum castle, and we had to wait an hour + before the AA could get to us and sort it.

By the time we had got going again we were both soaked and frozen, so a tactful retreat was made to the nearest pub....

it wouldn't have been any fun at all on a big bike!

See you next weekend for AdamA's ride??

Chalk downland is great isn't it?
:eek :D
Broughton Down is always good for that.
Especially with a front puncture.

It was that climb at the first part of the track that caught me out. there were a few walkers coming the other way, so i moved over to give them some space...only to end up on my arse.

The second off happened here:http://www.multimap.com/maps/?qs=salisbury&countryCode=GB#map=51.09609,-1.73251|15|4&dp=904&bd=useful_information&loc=GB:51.06653:-1.79787:14|salisbury|Salisbury,%20Wiltshire,%20England,%20SP1%202
Riding up what was a greasy track through the trees, and looked over to see if dave had binned it...only to find myself sat on my arse again....

Most of monarchs way seemed to be in use for a cross country run. there were runners everywhere, and it looked like they'd set out from broughton, in just t-shirts and shorts.....and i thought i was mad being out in that weather.....

Sounds like you had fun:eek:

Cant make next weekend as am helping the old folks move. Shame will have to meet at another ride. I will keep an eye on the forum for the next one, would be nice if you could arrange abit of sunshine next time:thumb2

Well i'm still going to be at the meeting place in case anyone turns up, with a view to doing some of the local lanes and see how it goes.

But your right. the weather is appalling!!

I was thinking of you this morning as a sat in the kitchen with some tea, toast and reading the newspapers.
:D
