Hi all

I currently have a 2013 GSA used for commuting, touring and the odd track day (very odd!!) - comfort is my mantra - I wear padded cycle shorts for longer trips and I'd like to know if the new GSA seat is less or more comfortable? Help welcomed - cheers

I own a 2011 gsa and a 2014 gsa lc the seat on the lc is much, much, much ,worse ........................mind you that is just the opinion of my a&*e

My buttocks are still deeply offended by the OEM POS seat (GSA 2014).
Do a search and you will find lots of detailed threads about it...

(keywords: seat, exclusive, touratech, sargent, etc...)

My stock GSA seat is perfectly comfortable for a full day in the saddle. I don't weigh 50 stone though, so it doesn't get as squished as others.:augie:D

Hi all

Help welcomed

When you (and not Fat Bob from Manc or Racing Snake Sid from Esher) have sat your arse (not theirs) onto the 2015 GSA for an extended test ride, you'll know the answer.

How else did you decide whether your much used 2013 bike was comfortable?

The GSA LC seat is narrower than the old seat. I find it slightly less comfortable than the TC, but I think over time I will get used to it. :)

i don't understand all these arse-ache threads. Just ride standing up for a few mins every so often and you will never get monkey-bum.

What is Monkey Bum, is this it ?

That monkeys got an Arse like a Man United rosette .:D

Just received a front BMW Exclusive seat (s/hand from Matty589) and been out for a quick run, the Exclusive is definitely firmer BUT it is better shaped and more comfortable than the original and the build quality compared to the original is like chalk and cheese.

Will take it out for a longer run later on in the week and a couple of hundred miles should see if it will be a significant improvement

I have a 2015 and the seat has not caused any issues, it did first of all but i raised the back and kept the front low. Just got back from a 2500 mls trip.:thumb

Did a much longer run today on the bike with the new seat, it has done away with the pressure on my inner thighs which I got after 15 minutes with the standard seat and although it immediately feels firmer than the original after an hour or so it feels exactly the same without becoming uncomfortable.

Best comment is that after a 100 miles you don't notice the seat which suits me fine

Only other problem I have with BMW seats (more design of the mounts than the seats) is the fact they always seem to pitch you forward making you slide into the tank.

On the 1150gs and the last 1200gsa tc I put spacers under the of the front mount brackets which raised the nose of the seat, On the LC I made a set of offset replacements for the rubbers which did work but I was looking for a more permanent solution.

Due to the design of the tank you cannot lift the front mounts with spacers as they will foul the tank centre panel, whilst looking online I found that the r1200rt lc uses the same front mount for the seat as the gs and gsa but the actual bar that the tank rubbers fit onto is different.

Picked one up secondhand for £10 off e bay, if you look the one on the left is the original gs/gsa fitting the one on the right is from the rt model, once fitted it lifts the front of the seat just enough o stop you sliding forward on braking , it is slightly more difficult to get the flats of both feet on the ground when stationary but once on the move it is a much nice seating position

Just got back from a 2000 mile tour of Bavaria- some 9 hour riding days. The new GSA is miles better than my 2012 GS. Harder and flatter. I have tried riding shorts and the only ones that are suitable are the ones without any seams- and shorts with seams will hurt after a while. A good post earlier- just stand up through villages and you will feel the bloodflow come back and you can ride all day. This bike is like an armchair!
