Being a tad squiffy, I think organising a "run" for anyone you know with a motorbike, over the said pass(es) IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION would be entirely legal and very funny...
It's the Fred Whitton Challenge, an annual event with the proceeds going to charity, live and let live, they ain't doing no harm and one day in a year avoiding the central lakes ain't really that bad !

A couple of years ago I was driving down the Borrowdale road past Derwentwater (in the car) and there was a road-running race in progress.
There we no signs advising motorists of this race and it was a nightmare!
I tried indicating left to get off the road out of the way into a car park but the runners were not keen on this and banged the car on the way past - the temptation was to run the W*****s over but that wont do.
I would not fancy being on a bike in that situation - might have got shoved off.
The problem is that it may be a similar situation with a crowd of pedaly - bikers!
I once happened to 'run into' a race when out in the Landy. The road network through Chatsworth was closed to traffic at the ends for the race, unfortunately I'd arrived at the middle of Chatsworth via the local greenlane network and had absolutely no idea the tarmac was closed...
Caused a slight delay in my journey and the spectators looked surprised as I trundled past in the opposite direction to the race. Oh, and nobody bothered banging on my Landy... they would've needed hammers to do anything worthwhile
