So having reached the age of 60 I decided now was the time to get my first Harley. So I bought this.

Intent on following Twizzle’s advice, gleaned from several years lurking on this particular forum, I looked forward to 6 months of riding round before making any changes. Today is day two and unfortunately there are at least two things that have to be changed immediately. So my questions are:
1. What can the Harley massive recommend as a replacement for that exhaust? Something mellower that doesn’t require a tune would be lovely.
2. I can’t ride this bike without incurring lower back pain after about an hour so what forward controls do you recommend? Something adjustable would be nice but I bow to the superior knowledge of you all.

Thanks in advance. Andy.

Order a copy of the big “BIKERS BOOK” from Zodiac.nl and fill your boots…emptying your bank account at the same time. Style is subjective so best be left to you and your bank manager.

First of all, great random toss at the dart board?!
Secondly, why the actual fuck would you want to change those short stacks??!! Lol
Send me a PM and I’ll swap you my unused standard ones 😬
PS. Buy some earplugs and all will work out just fine. Do a courtesy push round corner on Sunday mornings though 👍

Nice looking bike. Keep the exhausts.

PS. Throw that stupid number plate in the bin and get yourself a metal one that ACTUALLY fits in the top plate holder (see attached). Cops don’t stop Harleys - they’re below their radar 😬

Still fancy going down the black & white route with a number plate.

Me too, but crosses the feds red line in my neighbourhood. My mate’s had 1 or 2 - 7 day producers that need a mini MOT etc. Depends where you live - I guess 🤔
Look dead cool though 👍

I haven't looked but is it just a fine ?

No fine here, just a 7 day producer to get “road worthy”. Need to keep bill board though for this and annual MOT

I hate them bloody exhausts ... A nice 2-1 is what you want :augie

Is it Stage 1 or 2 ?

It is stage 1. Regarding forward controls - I’ve attached a pic of mine with the Harley ones. My bike had boards standard - and they were uncomfortable too (with long legs)

Looks good. There seem to be forwards of all prices from £250 to over £1500 but I’m guessing the Harley ones are a safe bet.

I just went for the Harley ones. I bought in the States and still cost me £300 14 years ago. For me, optimum comfort is straight arms and close to straight legs. As Doris says (and he’s the resident guru) very subjective. Some of the older Harley dealers had custom fitting shops, but no longer in most cases. Can get expensive messing with them though - be warned.
