France is dearer than Germany or Austria and much dearer than Spain. Although the costs in Germany have ramped up a bit in the last few years. I noticed more German hotels charging for garage parking and breakfast now. Part of that will be due to the booking websites to a) lower their room cost so they appear higher in the search list and b) separate it out from the element of the booking they have to pay commission on.
The biggest difference to France is the cost of dining out in Germany & Austria, especially drinks prices. A half litre of basic lager in France is at least 7 euros and Leffe can be 9 euros. It's half that in Germany. A brasserie main course costing 25 euros in France might be 15 in Germany.
