Garmin Zumo 660 with card

I have used and enjoyed this device for a good few years but as I see from some threads we all run out of space now to put it all on.

Now I know diddly squat about computers etc but get by with a good few searches on u-tube etc.

Here is the question that will no doubt cause huge intakes of breath- enough to suck the net curtains towards some folk here and warrant another tab for the blood pressure.

I had, as many had, an up date last year- wouldn't all go on, so moved sounds to card and maps went on, clever me I think, and on my own too!
Now new update and wont go one sooooooo. I found that whilst connected to Base Camp the data says.
Device maps EUROPE NT 2013.41 3D

Then or card it says (including music) Map EUROPE NT 2014.30 V20.14

So here it is then are they one and the same and overlapped as the file is so large or has one been a right Tosser and downloaded two different maps and I need to delete one.

Or shall I just go stand in the corner with the pointy hat~~!

The clue is in the version numbers. 2013.41 is the last 2013 version, 2014.30 is the third 2014 version and is, I believe, the current mapping. Not too sure what the V20.14 part is though I haven't bothered to update recently despite a lifetime mapping subscription. It might be because the 660 and earlier models are now only getting two updates a year as opposed to the previous 4 times, this is what I've heard anyway. yet to fully confirm this as fact mind you. Apparently the later model new Zumo models will still get 4 updates.

If you go to Tools > Settings > Map > Map Info you will see some check-boxes. You need to check the ones that say "City Navigator Europe 2014.30" or "CN Europe 2014.30". There should be one that says that and also one that is followed by "3D". This is the eye-candy 3D buildings and is optional 'fluff' that IMHO does nothing for navigation and is only for bigger cities and even then only for a few buildings. Leave older versions of the mapping unchecked.

The update process should have removed the old mapping but it depends how you a/ put that on the unit in the first place, and b/ how you installed the latest mapping. You can manually delete it if you like but best to back it up to your computer first.

Well just in case anyone is interested. I removed all the voice files in all the differing languages and moved the music to the sd card and removed the old maps. Connected in again and downloaded as sweet as yer like the new maps 2015.
