Has anyone any experience of the Hawker Odessy battery. My OE battery on the 1200 GS is always going flat, which it has done since the bike was new:mad: Does the Odessy battery cure this??

Hello Paul. Have a look at the recent thread entitled 'Flat Battery'. This should be enough to help you make an informed decision.:beerjug:

There are many threads on ADVRIDER.COM about that topic...

I finalized my installation of a PC535 this afternoon. Be carefull when dropping your battery in. There is a cable cluster that will get pinched between the battery and the bike's frame. Simply cut some ty-rap lower the cable cluster and re-ty-rap it.

You will have to re-route the negative pole. I remove both copper pole extenders that came with the battery. You will have to grind away the plastic rivets that holds those pole extender as well as unscrew the bronze bolts. I re-installed the "left" copper pole extender to the right, and the "right" one was re-installed on the left pole.

I found this, it looks like they do one for the GS!, "PC535GS", See link.

I bought a replacement Odyssey battery from Motorworks as a kit with the required longer strap etc. I also got a CTEK Multi XS3600 trickle charger as an optimate etc doesn't supply sufficient Amps for an Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) cell like the Hawker type.

So far, no problems even though I run the bike with heated grips and a pair of Hella MicroDE fogs. Cold starting is a bit more enthusiastic with the new battery fitted.

No longer possible to put the seat in the "Lower" position.

There is something very Important I forgot to mention. You will no longer be able to put the standard seat at the "lower" position !!!!

That could make it difficult, I was thinking of getting one, but always ride with the low position seat.... thanks for the heads up. :thumb

There is a way to modify the seat so it could fit. I think it is posted on r1200gs.info. I will try to find it .....
