Hawker Odyssey Batteries

Put a 680 on my 1100 'bout a year ago.

They only do the 'full metal jacket' now, and yes it went straight into the 1100's tray (mine has ABS if that makes a difference)

As for the connections, i found a flat piece of metal, drilled two holes in it, bent it fitted it, all done in 5 minutes. :nenau

Piece o'cake, good too ;)

Thanks Dick, that's exactly what I wanted to hear!

Now all I need to do is wait til Cheshire Batts get their new stock in!

:thumb Your description sounds good but I don't u/stand a word on the link - might as well be in German!

Looks like a standard 'Gel' battery to me so what makes it better than standard BMW battery or the Hawker?

Have to say that £30 delivered rings my bell but my bike lives outside come hell or high water so the claimed low temp performance of the Hawker appeals.:D

But £30!!! Sheesh

Go on Mr Paul Young, sell it to me. If you are convincing enough there is a tenner in it for you.

Cheers

OK, I'll rise to that challenge...

Kung Long
Max discharge for 30secs - 440amps
Max discharge for 5secs - 880amps
Nominal capacity - 22ah
Price - £31 delivered (approx)

Hawker
Max discharge for 30secs - 220amps
Max discharge for 5secs - 680amps
Nominal capacity - 16ah
Price - £79 plus delivery

So the KL will crank harder & for longer. There is no extra cost for fitting either, as the KL battery doesn't need extra parts to fit it - the terminals are already the correct fitment for the GS.

HTH,

PS: Stick a tenner into your subscription & help to fund the site. See the link at the top of the page....;) :thumb

Cmon fellas, getting off the subject just a little bit now aren't we?

Back to batteries:

Just spoken to Motoworks, they can supply me with a Hawker Odyssey PC680 for my 1998 1100 GS for £79-00 plus £7 P&P.

Cheshire Batteries quoted me a stunning £57-75 plus (up to) £20 P&P!!? Trouble is they have none in stock at the moment but expect some early in 2007 :thumb

I don't suppose anybody drives / rides between Crewe and Winchester on a regular basis do they (I'd be amazed if they do!?)?:nenau

Any other suppliers out there I shud try?

Apparently, and according to Motoworks, the Hawker comes with different fittings (Machine Screws) that are supplied with the battery which require a different 'fitting' strategy but no serious modification and no packing etc required for a 1100GS!?

Any further comments?

I could pick you one up in the new year and post it, should cost a tenner (postage) :thumb

Ebbo - was it a tricky beggar to fit or a piece of cake?
Sorry, missed your post.
I had to make up a couple of battery terminals from mild steel, some nob pointed out I should have used copper, but its my bike and I'll use steel if I want to :rob ::)

If you need something sooner, some of us have bought/fitted one of these

Cost is around £30 delivered from Germany & the cranking power they provide is significantly stronger & with greater endurance than the Hawker. A bit of a bargain, if you ask me...

Hi Ya Paul....I emailed the guy at [email protected]... a couple of days ago and as yet had no reply :nenau
Ebay page makes no sense whatsoever to me :D

I've just ordered one from Cheshire Batteries (No stock at the Mo). How much of a faff is it to make it fit. Surely it should fit size wize even if the wires need a bit of modding?:nenau :nenau
I ordered the PC680.

Hi Phill
I own a 1150gs as you know, i fitted a HAWKER fitted straight in no problem, for the terminals i fitted half inch angle brackets (HAWKER don't have stand up posts.)
IAN.
PS ORDERED THE LIGHTS FROM MATIN.

Cheers paul I just bought a battery :thumb

I bought a KL as mentioned by Paul to replace the battery in my 18 month old GS. So far it spins over faster than the old (original) one ever did and the bike can sit for a few weeks without the battery going flat. I e-mail the german e-bayer (in english) and got a polite reply back in english. Whan I followed the link in his e-mail to the iten the site was in english! Well recomended!

Do us a favour then and post the link to the English version. That wud sort me out good and proper and also ensure I donate that £10 I promised to the site.

Others might find it useful too as I've still not had a reply from the nice German fella at the other end.

Cheers

Well ive bought one and just awaiting delivery now. Looks like they have risen in price by about 3 euros tho. Will an optimate type charger be ok to get it up to charge ?

I've just seen this thread....... I actually get a 10% discount from Cheshire batteries if anybody still needs one?!
