Hi all, I wud like some advice on how to set up the dip beam and the mail beam throw on my 1150 GS. I've put some HID's on, and they are great. The thumb screw adjuster don't make a difference from full in to full out

I've got various PDf maintanance documents, courtesy of this site but they don't help.

Any pointers would be very much appreciated.:beerjug:

I usually drive my car near the garage door until definate lines from the headlights can be seen. I then use a pencil and draw the line on the garage door (dont tell the wife)... Put the bike in the same place then sit on and turn on those lights... adjust to the same height as the car ones... Never failed me yet and Ive done it like this loads of times.....

It's covered in some detail in the owners handbook if you have that:thumb2

Distance from a wall, marked height on the wall etc.

If the adjustor is making no difference something is either broken or jammed and you need to start dismantling it to find the problem.

Once you've got that bit sorted see about raising the main beam independantly of the dip using the screws around the perimeter of he headbeam. It gives more seperation and better dark road illumination

I set my beams independantly on my 1150, using the screws on the front side of the headlights.I only use the adjuster on the back of the lights to compensate for taking a pillion on board.

I assume that you have flicked the lever?

headlights

You will probably find that the ball socket on the left of the assembly has not engaged in the socket. you will need to remove the screen an headlight assembly and put it back. We've all done this just a pain taking it all off.
