Head stock failure?

Relax, it's one of those 2013 pre production rolling test beds ;)

Exactly, info is sketchy:blast

Just a one-off....................those pesky Merkins always run crying to NHTSA:D

its not just a pre production fault, I see on the other bmw forums that there are quite a few guys who have had this problem, on the bmw gs euro site one rider knows 6 bikes that have had broken necks ! I am sure there will be a recall. of course on the internet everything is blown up but its a worry for new buyers.

How much stress before that happens ? Genuine question! The photos are from the mans Facebook page...

If you overstress anything it will break - whether it is a problem or not depends on the circumstances of the failure - it can happen with any bike, 1150s used to break their rear sub-frames if over-stressed.

Looking at the 2nd photo - not something that I am going to be concerned about anytime soon :augie

I can see why you call yourself Engineer :clap

Does anybody actually know that the broken bike is the same as in the pictures?

They are very professional looking images, almost out of the WMB promotional back catalogue

I like that post Nutty........ There should be more like it. With testers like him, we all learn how to break a new bike. I'll keep my eye on his posts, just so I know exactly what not to do on a GS.

Seeing those pics and now others he has posted, I am feeling more relaxed. I definitely don't aim to try and ride the bike like that!

They are not my images

looking around on the web, they all seem to be the same pictures ? so maybe its just one guy who pushed the gs too far .

Yes, I know they aren't. Your'e on a 'stating the bleeding obvious' roll today aren't you :D

I can't access FB from work so was wondering if they are just pictures he has on his page or pictures of him riding the bike that suffered the failure :nenau

Andres

Never seen any other GS suffer this damage. And in all the years of production they've all been put through the same, and more, as in the pictures shown.

Although, feck it, just ignore the facts and believe only what suits your opinion/agenda (as we're always being told if you don't believe in climate change :D), who gives a stuff...........................

I persuaded a Pan European to do a passable impression of picture two once. We both lived to tell the tale.

The guy is a complete moron. Does he really think that he can post pictures of a 250KG bike 10 feet in the air, and then claim a manufacturing fault?

Some people are born with minimal intelligence.:blast

Pardon my ignorance , are you telling me that the new 1200GS is less able than the old 1200GS :nenau? The man is not doing anything different to what BMW was demonstrating in Garmish back in 2006 when I went there . All bikes were standard with no mods:cool:.

Oh dear oh dear, I doubt the bike is being dead dropped vertically from 10 foot up in the air. Otherwise those blokes who do 200 foot jumps on dirt bikes would be flat. :D
