Buy them from a Motorrad dealer.

The filaments are allegedly hand wound from purest unobtanium on the inner thighs of virgins whilst sat astride unicorns which makes them worth the premium you will be charged.

Wow, I'm suprised my dealer changed my last one for free!

On my last two GSes the lamps used to last about 15 months.
Now I have LED lights all round, just waiting to see what'll go on these!

Scotsrider, your hid issue may be down to your battery being on its way out. Had exactly the same problem then shortly after battery died. Replaced it with a motobatt and not had that problem since. Before hid I had only changed one bulb in 12,000 miles. Like others just used halfords cheapie.

Thought it worth mentioning - I had a similar problem on my old bike (but with only hundreds of miles apart) just put it down to poor mounting and vibration - never thought any more about it but did mention it to the dealer on a regualr service and just asked them to make sure I was seating the bulb correctly - they found that the clip assembly that flips between single and pillion set up was faulty - they replaced it with another unit they had on another bike and I went for 2 years without a problem - I trade the bike then but feel sure it was the assembly that caused exessive vibration.

Might be worth a check.

Two bulbs in 27000 miles. Being from Yorshire just purchased a spare pair of Osram with 3 year warranty

Bought two Osram Ultralife for my 1200GS after original dip beam blew - might end up selling the second one on e-bay, as it's going to either outlive me or the bike!

If anyone watched the program on tv about the men who made us spend,it clearly states about a 'life' built into most if not all products sold today,thus they make more money the end of built in lifespan.
The 1st item which had documented proof was a lightbulb lol

Like cars & bikes we need a new one even though technically there's nowt wrong with the old one,pcp & the new toilet lol
