For some reason my lights have become very high, even on the lowest possible set up I am blinding oncoming drivers.

I have the correct tyre pressures, suspension pre load and damping set for 2 up although I ride alone mostly. The clip to adjust the light for 2 up riding is in the 2 up position and the twiddly knob in the same place is wound back until it clicks for the lowest possible aim.

I am still left with a very high dip.

Main beam is no good as it points to the sky now !!

Any ideas why this should suddenly happen ?

There's an ikkle cup and ball joint on the adjusting arm inside light unit..
Do a wee search and you'll find a half dozen solutions of varying ingenuity.

Let's hope you've got little fingers and you're a part time gynacologist/pickpocket

It does sound like he ball and socket may have become detached - but, you say you have wound the adjuster "back" until it click? Which way is "back" to you? To lower the beam it turns clockwise, as though you are screwing it in... If you did this in reaction to the light pointing up, then it is going to be the ball and socket, especially if it just suddenly happened.

This happened to me once, when I pushed too hard fitting a new bulb. It will be much easier for you to fix if you take the headlight unit out. Take the caps off as though you were replacing the bulbs, ad gently push on the reflector unit. If it moves at all then it is likely detached somewhere. When mine went I could just see the detached ball and socket bit, and managed to get them back together again by lining them up and pulling on the reflector to push the ball back home again.

Loose bulb?

I'd also check the bulb is sitting correctly. The clip on mine doesn't sit properly, so occasionally the bulb can work loose. If the bulb were to droop in its holder the reflector would make this a higher beam.

You can check this by looking through the front of the lens. The bulb should be pointing straight out.

Probably not this, but its an easy one to check, and fix.
