The headlights on my Rockster are about as much use as a candle. So rather than bolt 2 thousand after market lights on, I thought I'd try upgrading the bulbs.

So, a set of the highly acclaimed Osram Silverstar 50% brighter bulbs was duly purchased. I've just been outside and fitted them. I can confirm that these bulbs are indeed much brighter, probably 50% brighter, funnily enough.

However, a brighter bulb in a headlight with a bad beam pattern, is just brighter in the same bad beam pattern. :mmmm

Ho hum.

Rockster lights are the same as GS'?, suggest you rotate the dip beam so that the "V" light pattern is equal about the horizontal, vast improvement.
OK OK Every time I see crap light comments, I come up with this, but hey, it works for me. :D

650 Dakar - tried Phillips vision plus, tried the above mentioned Osram, tried a higher wattage bulb, now running a PIAA bulb. A slight improvement each time but as you say, a crap beam pattern is still a crap beam pattern. I'm now looking into replacing the headlamp with a pair of HID units but I'm going to need someone to make some kind of housing for them. Anyone got any ideas where I could get a headlamp housing made to my spec?

just fork out for a hid kit , nothing else will make pish all difference

i did the 50% extra brightness stuff and altho they make it a little better but the only thing that makes it adequate is a hid kit ....

ony prob is where to put the balast box on the rocky ? u got abs ?

Bleedin' 'ell Rev, how many bikes do you get through ;)

What you getting next?

A lot! :D I dont really want to see "Rocky" go as it's a lovely bike, but its a tad heavy going through London and its all I do is commute on a bike these days. So I may try a super scooter.

I had a Scooter a while back. They are a real laugh, reminds me of my FS1E days. But since I've sold it I've missed it. An auto in town was really good news. So I may get a FJS600 to go through the winter with?

Although having seen the weather predictions for this winter I'm also thinking about another supermoto. I quite fancy driftingout the back wheel round Aldwych in teh snow! Or maybe buy both  :D
