is it a simple job to convert the headlight for driving on the right?

but isn't it dangerous driving on the left when everyone else is driving on the right?

Seriously I have driven in Europe quite a few times now and never had a problem. The only thing I ever do is put the headlamp in the low position for carrying luggage (see your handbook) its very easy to do. I must admit to have not driven through the night but have driven at dusk before without problems. The beam pattern is quite flat so as long as you don't have your headlamp set too high you should be fine. I am sure someone else will say differently if they have had any troubles but I doubt it. :thumb

The solution !

Having the topic in my mind for several month I've found the real solution today (in my home forum r12gs.de).
The headlamp cover glas has some marks for both asymmetric shapes that a cover can be placed.

You can find the sketch (conversion from Europe to GB) here:

In your case you have to cover the other section of course !

Yes it is

Not sure what model you have but on the 1150GS (03) you simply twist the unit and it moves from UK to European setting. The only bugger is that you have to take the screen off to do it but it can be done in the time it takes the train to get through the tunnel. If it is a 1150 have a look in your manual and if you do not have one, drop me a line and I will scan it for you.

Thank Dietmar - excellent diagram. I just wish I could speak German as it seems a good site.

@wilbjr21
You're welcome.
I'm sure that you will get help there even if you post in english language.

Or you could just stick a bit of insulating tape on your headlight in the appropriate position.

GS1200 basically has a rectanglar headlight beam so to be honest there is little point in doing anything to it at all. If the true is but known the headlight is already more european than GB.

I took the liberty of copying the picture to here. :thumb

Interestingly it looks to me like a left dip (UK) eadlamp in the drawing, the shaded area covers the section that would project from teh headlamp to th eright and above the datum line - unless I have got it all wrong ? Can anyone check and confirm ? :nenau
