Hi anyone had their F800GS or F650GS twin headlight scorch using aftermarket bulbs? cos mine is slightly scorch on the manifold but it not tat bad as compare to some of my pals Beemers. below are mine with Phillips Diamond Vision bulb.
I hope that isnt picked up when they check the lamp alignment at MOT time

Do they have MoT's in Singapore ?
I thought the UK was the only place with a compulsory yearly check.

Got the the 55watt HID kit form adventure bikes, fitted it about 12 months ago and noticed this morning that all the reflector is scorched black and lense has gone foggy![]()

For a scorch mark to effect MoT it would have to impair the function of the headlamp. I think you'd be hard pressed to even notice such a mark with the headlamp illuminated...
One MoT issue may be beam throw - HIDs have a different 'filament' * shape to halogens. Has anyone had this tested by a garage other than the friendly local?
Best,

I had one on my Transalp for two years and it passed the MOT both times with no advisories.

Thank you. Think i'll go for a 35w 4300k HID now that the nights are getting longer.

I would go for a 6000k as it is White light, the standard bulbs are 4500K yellow and the 8000k is Blue.

) HID 35w whiter than white, bright star (also on)

Yep my headlamp reflector is blackendand & blistered above the lampie it has heat damaged/melted the reflector!! Bike has done 32,000miles, reflector started to go not long after the warrenty expired...funny that!
I have only ever used standard 55w H7 lamps!!
Motor Works have new headlamp unit for £260I think
BMW attitude is....... oh dear its out of warrenty thats a shame we can supply and fit a new one.... (I didnt hear the £££££ talk that followed)
Anyone know of a crashed 800GS or scrapy that has a servicable headlight??
