You can use anything you wish if you have a direct battery connection, or through a fuse box of some sort.

I use a Powerlet on the side of the bike (look at the panel under the rider's seat). From here I can also charge the battery with a conventional charger/tender.

Just one question......are there any issues with disconnecting the bike battery? Anything I should know?

If it is less than 60watts plug it directly into the accessory connector, no messing around with connecting to the battery and fuses -simples.

Difficult to overstate how much more enjoyable a journey is if you keep warm.

No, no issues at all. The bike doesn't care.

You can use the jumper lug as power and the neg on the battery.

Lug to the right and above the diagnostic wire.

It took me a LONG time to come round to the idea of heated clothing. Had heated grips and bar muffs for years now. I finally bought a heated waistcoat off here. As you say, watt ( ) a difference. I really do not like the cold, but I was out the other day for a ride, wearing summer gloves and a lightweight Autumn jacket and trousers. I was toasty warm and comfortable all day long.

It wasn't until I got home that I realised the outside temp hadn't got above 1 degree all day. I honestly had no idea.

PS. Waistcoat is connected directly to the battery.

Nope no issues. You don't have to take out and/or disconnect the battery terminals. As JVB has pointed out in the pic, the RED wire that you see on the right top of the pic is an extended connection for the battery's +ve terminal (see image below, connector marked by red arrow, pic (c) JVB ). Loosening that does not disconnect the +ve terminal on the battery.

You can loosen and take out the -ve terminal bolt on the battery (black wire) as well and that does not cause any issues.

I have the Keis vest and Keis gloves. Wired into the battery, with no issues.

Both are fantastic, but the gloves are a revelation, as your whole hands are toasty warm. I got the gloves last year, instead of heated grips for my XCountry.

Vest arrived this afternoon and was duly wired to the bike with the help of your useful advice.
I'm very pleased with it and look forward to fully road testing it this weekend!

I use a Keis heated jacket plugged into the bike's socket and it works well. When I used my heated trousers as well it cut out because it was using more than the allowed 5 amps. Got around this by installing a second socket direct from the battery which I also use to connect the bike to my Optimate charger.

I bought one from them too - bargain at £39.99

SWMBO already has the high power version and loves it. Mine's the standard power version, so it's good to know that it should work from the power socket on the dash as the other one is already connected to the battery.

I do similar on my ZZR600. KEIS sell a connecter to connect the jacket to an optimate plug.
