heated grips help

hi folks i have a 2003 rockster,and the heated grips are the same temp whether they are on the first or the second setting(just say warm) is this the grips that are at fault or the switch
advice please

I'd suspect the switch, relay or other component. The heating elements, even if they have two lots of windings on each bar which I don't think they do, are unlikely to have failed at the same time so the control circuit is top suspect.

i had never thought of the relay

They are a single winding so defo elsewhere. I'm guessing there's a resistor somewhere to vary the current to the grips.
