as my bike has'nt any,(heated grips:rolleyes:) anyone know how much this would cost me with bmw. grips, and where could I get them from, dealer?
Or has anyone fitted non bmw grips,as I can find these for sale, but can not get a price on the bmw. fitment.
Never use to feel the cold on any of my other bikes that I have had, this is my first bmw,(1200gs) and it's the coldest bike I have ever ridden.

BMW charge around £400 to fit if I remember. Even if you buy the bits and fit them, you'll still have to get BMW involved to program the bike to let them know the grips are there.

I made the same mistake

It is neither easy nor cheap to have them fitted afterwards; My advice is to buy a good pair of (possibly electrically heated) gloves. You will see that there are cheap grips that can be fitted afterwards - Busters and Steptoe both offer them; Oxford grips look a bit crude - apparently foam rubber tube around existing grips but perhaps worth a try.

Oxford wraprounds

Im sure that you know but Oxford do a pair of wrap round heated grip thingys:confused:I dont know how good they are or if they would make the grip too large but the may be worth a try they could be run from the extra accessory socket that can be fitted in the cockpit may be worth a try.I had a free pair with a magazine subscription never used em and sold em on Ebay,so if ya keep the packaging you could always sell em on.:augie:nenau

Not ture. I fitted a pair mysef and it was easy. the wiring is already these to plug the gripes into and if you get on with your dealer he will progam the bike free. Cost around 300 for the grips

I know people enjoy slating the 1200 for its mechanical or electrical snags, but cold? its a f.....g bike for gods sake......

yes I know it's a bike,just kind'a strange that after riding my other bike,and through a winter or two,that I notice it "more" on this one,not a problem,just saying,
Thanks for all the replies on the grips,I'll give the oxford wrap-around one's a go,have a good weekend all on'yar, well whats left of it.

"......Cost around 300 for the grips..." I assume you mean £300? So another£100 over the cost of the factory fitted option is not too bad; I assume that means the genuine BMW setup. ('Oxford grips' cost about £40 incidentally.)
After my first winter days with the bike I asked the dealer how much to change - he quoted me 400€, fitted - which here in France is twice the price of the factory fitted original option. I might have had it done but there were few days cold enough to justify it. Now in my fourth winter - I might just get new gloves for Christmas!
I content myself by advising all and sundry (on this forum and others) not to repeat my mistake as it is a bike that you will want to use all the year round.
