The info was from Bikerboy108 who is has been posting on ADVrider very recently so expect an update to follow.
My dealer is Pidcocks in Notts.

Bikerboy here in the USA .. My dealer called me yesterday.. ( while I was drinking a beer at Mardii Gras )Hey Pat we put 15 grips on a 2014 they slipped on,plugged right in and got HOT
. So we ordered a set and they will be shipped from Germany and be here in 5 to 7 business days ..will give you a call and you bring your bike in and we will put them on.... NO CHARGE... 
So I had another one.. Was I shocked yes.. I have no more details as I didn't want to ask too many questions and as you say I was on holiday... But bottom line is no more bs about bars ,computer won't work blah blah blah.. Have them put bare hands on your grips ,show them the freaking advert in the book about how safe and warm they should make you and tell the bloke that's what you want... Go For It... Will keep you informed on any updates... [email protected]

Went to my local dealer today. The bike is booked in on Thursday for them to investigate and start a case to get permission off BMW to instal the 2015 grips. BMW have not yet updated the grips on the system for the earlier bikes so its not easy for the dealer to get warranty permission so they asked if I could get as much details as possible if anyone has had success with the swap and warranty. Thanks for any info you can give.

I am on my way out the door in a few and am on holiday and won't have internet access for a week...
Bottom line is if they turn on yours put their bare hands on them and then turn on a 15 and do the same... see how long they can hold them on!! Thats the way they should be...I am away no also and my dealer called me Sat. at 5pm while I was at Mardi Gras put he told me they were plug and play!! Advrider has more info than UKGSER.. read last 4 pages or so..... My last post is below ...no one at dealers today USA tradition

I had a call from BMW customer service today and they stated they have spoken to motorrad and they are fully aware of the issue and are still working on a fix for pre 15 bikes.
Without knowing who and where the dealership is bikerboy used, I can't get much further!

I don't think we will hear from Bikerboy for about a week unfortunately.
I thought of this thread yesterday, when I had to turn my heated grips down!

Went to Vines today and thats what they said lol
However they agreed that the LC grips were not as hot as the previous model but were willing to test them and change them if needed, will get it done at 6000m service

Did they say they would do them under warranty? Was it the 2015 grips they said they would fit? I went to Williams Manchester on Thursday and they said that BMW wont allow that.
Will have to wait until Ive had them tested, but one of the service guys said the latest model has significantly warmer grips

Yes they do but BMW will not allow them to be swapped under warranty.
