Heated hand grips

That's better than useful thanks Jim. I suspect my dealer will have this part for my machine. They intimated that numerous gs owners were having issues.

SO what exactly to I need to take to my dealers or to tell them to cure my crap grips? Cheers

Well my dealer was fully aware of the bad grips and also confirmed today that they are aware of the newer part which they are chasing from BMW. I'm sure yours will assist as best they can.
If you read that adv thread it's definitely a worldwide issue so I would image our dealer network is fully aware!

Heres the link on Advrider:-

It seems people all around the world are having the useless heated grip issue!

This link shows (a) it's American and we all know they are slightly different over the pond and (b) the list is for the 2013 GSA . So the "upgrade "might have come on the 2014 gsa which is obviously not as good as its predecessor . So I'm right in thinking there's now a new set going on to 2015 GSA ? I have a sept 64 plated GSA but it's the 2015 model , so I will try find out what the part number is on my bike to see if it's different from the 2014.

Good thread I'm watching it closely

Yep, the parts numbers are globally universal though aren't they? I don't believe BMW use different part numbers for America.

I have changed the list to the GS (not GSA) one:- http://www.ascycles.com/Illustrated...grip, heated/Multi-controller&bindCat=32_2190
This still shows the part numbers as being the same and the "from" and "upto" dates are identical.

All those of us can do with the issue is to report back with some objective evidence that the temps have improved after the fitting of the newer parts.

I was unfortunately told yesterday that the new part is on back order from BMW, so its either in demand or not enough of them!
Apart from this, I'm completely in love with the bike, wake up in the morning feeling rubbish and get to work with a grin on my face!

thanks for clearing that up ….mine is defo a 2015 bike i checked with the Dealer again today, but the grips seem Warm on setting 2 but not as hot as those on my friends RT or K13s .so I'm going to let them have the bike back again and have alook to make sure these 2015 grips are on and if not tell them to put them on . I also love the bike and its faultless apart from chilly finger ends when its around 5 degree outside ….it my be ME.! but with lots of peeps having issues I'm not so sure it is

Your bike may well be a '14 model registered later but predating the period when the parts were changed (08/14), so you need to know your build date really. I'm sure there was a thread on here somewhere with chassis numbers and build dates, I will search a bit more.

Well, the bike went in for its service with the main dealer today. They (Vines) say they've never heard of a software upgrade despite me mentioning those comments that have posted on this subject! And what's more they said nothing can be done - they're just not as hot as they used to be! Helpful - not. Hey ho - looks like bar muffs.

I got the same reply from Chester Motorrad, also told "I can't believe everything I read on the Internet", so I think I will contact Williams in Manchester and have a word with them. Chester did book it in, but I ended up in hospital with a kidney infection and missed the appointment, but they were adamant there was no update for the grips and again told me "I can't believe everything I read on the internet and this forum". I mentioned I was comparing like for like on my GSA where on the hot setting they could be to hot with summer gloves, they said bring it in and they will have a look, but I'm not overly inspired.
