Ok - my May 2014 GSA went to Pidcocks this morning to see if they could improve the effectiveness of the heated grips. As others - they work but do not get very hot.
They confirmed that the 2015 grips will not work on earlier bikes as a result of the software. So whilst they will almost certainly fit physically there would I assume be issues with them being compatible with the bikes electrics/ECU.
What they did do was a "forced software update" - no idea what this really means but I think it is a way of bypassing some of the currents bikes software for the heated grips
What I can report is that on the 6 mile drive home, the grips on the highest setting were significantly hotter and if I had been going any further, I would have had to turn them down to the lower setting
Will reserve full judgement until I have managed to do an extended test of them but happy so far
