Heated Waistcoats ????

BMW one is a pain in the arse with a crappy controller that keeps switching between temperatures in your pocket.

There is a lot on this site about heated waistcoats, try a search

I have a Gerbing heated jacket liner with a heat controller
You get heated arms and heated collar for less money than the BMW kit
:thumb

If you really wish, you can plug in additional heated gloves and heated trousers etc, but be aware of the current draw.

Hmm those Gerbing socks look good but how do you wash them? I mean not all of us GSERS are smelly bearded bellied old farts eh?

For God`s sake Baz don`t tell Peter, we get enough hassle as it is without heated jackets being fired in to!

Dont worry Lee. Pete the puff will most probably be wrapping his bikes in cotton wool and bubble wrap for winter as we speak.
The exo2 jackets are going for £119 from the uk importers and would you belive it..... Pica is a stockist as well. Going there this week for a look.

I find the BMW one very good, general opinion seems to be there are better ones on the market. Chilli vest (i think thats the names) gets good reports

I had a widder heated waistcoat given. Its a few years old now, still going strong and bloody brilliant. :thumb

It's simple.

You unplug them.

Take them off your warm feet.

Then chuck 'em in the washing machine on a 30-40 degree wash. Dry 'em over a radiator, clothes line or airing cupboard, but don't tumble-dry them. Incidentally, they arrive with a pair of inner socks that you put on first. This will mean that the heated socks stay fresher a little longer.

Come to that, that's the way to wash all the Gerbing heated liner kit.

I only used the socks a couple of times last winter when it wa really cold and we gad a long ride-out planned. eems I can tolerate cold feet much better than cold body/arms/neck.

Gerbing's gloves have also proved to be a Godsend, with heating elements all the way to the tips of the fingers, and thoroughly waterproof.

I've never had an issue with current draw. I understand their controller devices ensure that once you're up to temperature the current draw drops to a level needed to maintain the temperature.

Vote here for the klan heated waistcoat with the heateing elements in the collar. Three winters and a trip to Norway so far. Smashing bit of kit. :D

get the heated pads from a heated car seats and make your own or get the heated cable (flee bay) and sow in to a swet top / fleece, you get enough cable to zig zag 1 top + the bmw socket plug :thumb

They think of this.

You get sent some inner socks that will enable you to wear them for a few times before issues crop up.

I bung mine in the wash at 30 degs and there's never been a problem.

And on a truly cold day, I've found that having a heated jacket liner, gloves, trouser liner and socks takes away any hint of unpleasantness in the ride.

And I haven't found the current draw to be an issue. The heat controllers somehow manage to arrange things so that when they hit the temperature you set, the current draw drops magically. In other words, they only take full current as they warm up. I usually have to turn things right down once I'm properly warmed up.

But the gloves? Oh, the gloves are truly magical. Heat right down to the very tips of your fingers. Add in the heated grips, and it's total bliss.

Actually, my Garmin Quest is my best thing, followed by muffs in the winter folowed by Gerbing heated jacket with controller. :thumb

Gerbing heated vest = fantastic. Ride all day in the freezing cold with no problems. The infinitely variable control means you're always just the right temperature as well. Will be getting mine out tomorrow and will use it everytime I'm out.

Brilliant customer care as well :clap

Smellies'

Whats wrong with being a smelly old fart?, keeps the cold out and the smell in. Get a pair of wuderlich mud flaps they fit behind the pots, keep your feet clean in summer (?) and warm in winter and they dont go wrong.
Must go, annual bath comming up.
