Hello Forum (new members)

Springs

Well i condsider the springs to be in the firm range for off road riding. For touring, generally dirt and tarmac roads i would consider them in-between.

Don't take my word for it, i have only rode a demo 800gs, sports bikes, kwaka versys, and sports bikes that are old (current).

I would consider the BMW vs kwaka Versys suspension to be almost the same. (6mth test gap) So for touring, 800gs is for me, i have a deposit down.

Also I suggest that you get on the 650x challenge with pillion and compare to you 800gs. The pillion will give an idea of luggage. I have found that i can easily flat foot the x650 while ALMOST flat foot the 800gs (both no luggage, 5'10, not sure of rear pre load, suggest that it was middle as they were both show room)

Interesting on availability. Have just ordered a 800gs, delivery at end of Sep and checked with 2 dealers and had choice of 4 bikes both colours for Sep or Oct and also got a small discount.

Yes, Snowlife, you really should. I had a 650 V-Strom last summer and my new 650GS Twin is such a better bike: balance from back to back and side to side, much lower C of G, lighter, quicker, smoother, great gearbox, has less ugly plastic, and service at the BMW dealer is far superior. OK, you do pay more but I think it's worth it.

+1 :thumb

Bought from Oxford BMW, but Bristol had 2 bikes available as well.

I suppose you'll know if the fork springs are too soft if you keep bottoming out. I did the WOBMW off-road on the 800 and didn't experience that :nenau

This guy didn't seem to have a problem from the tip of south america to the tip of north america either.

Springs

thanks for the replys. seems that stock springs will be good enough.

Hello Tito, I am also new and have been enjoying the new F650. Today I added some more miles so it´s time to take it to the Dealer for it´s first service. Great bike!!

15 hours and counting...

Good for you!

Hope you enjoy it and let us know how you get on!

Yes, its the Magnesium 'stealth' version. Wunderlich bars, 1200 handguards and a few other bits. Just waiting for some aux. lights to be fitted for the full 'Starship Enterprise' look. :P

Should have some pics later - taken at Rainbow this morning.

Had a bimble into Derbyshire, took it steady, getting used to it as it is very different from the 650 single I've just swapped. :)

Oh you'll have a way to go before you get the full starship enterprise look :augie

I've since added the front strobes too and I'm about to add some LED aux lights... if anything it's more close encounters of the GS kind than Star Trek :bounce1

Another 800GS on the road this weekend

Two days to go and counting. Grey one (best colour!) with all the extra's ready and waiting for me to collect. Hardly ever see one on the road. Why?
