Hello guys,
I am Ryan from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
I never had a BMW and am thinking about GS1200.
My first bike was ducati monster 800 and only had ducati since then.
I moved to Brazil 2 years ago and I bought a 1198s because thers is nice track near by. And I was using a scooter for everyday.
One day, I realized that I am not really enjoying my bike life. Fancy ducati is in the garage most of the time and I am riding shitty scooter everyday.
I realized that I should get a bike that I can ride everyday and discover so many places in Brazil while I am living here.
Sold my 1198s and scooter.
Had hard time choosing between Multistrada 1200 and GS 1200. Damn hard to choose..
So I bought a nice 2005 Bonneville Black Carb bike. It is actually my first non-ducati bike. I am loving it everyday. I like the feeling, handling and power. It is different from what I felt with ducati, but I am enjoying a lot.
I bought a Garmin Zumo 350lm to go on a trip with Bonneville but I am not sure if this is a good idea or not. Brazil doesn't even have Triumph dealer yet.

So I am back to this hard choice that bugged me for last 3 months again. Mutistrada or GS1200. My heart says GS1200. I like the classic design that I believe that I will not be fed up easily so soon. But my brain says that I should go to Multistrada because I think this is the only country that Multistrada 1200S touring is cheaper than GS1200 premium package. (I want a triple black one.)

Cheaper with side bags and more power(not that I am saying that is important)

hmm. And many people are talking about new liquid cooled GS. I think it would be nicer to get the last famous air cooled boxer engine but I don't know if I am right about that.
I have few last ducatis that has trellis frame and dry clutch in Korea. To me, frame and dry clutch are kind of symbol of Ducati. So I wanted to keep them there in Korea even though I am here now.

Guys, I need some advice. I already have some reasons to go for Multi but I want some other reasons to go for last air cooled GS1200.

I want to use both for commute and trip.

Hi

I'd go for the Multistrada if it's cheaper than the GS - I currently have a couple of GS's and I'd still have the Ducati if the price was right - that said I'd probably keep my triple black and have the Ducati as well :)

I really enjoyed Natal when I was in Brazil - maybe worth a planned ride :)

Edited to add - maybe you could see a lot more of Brazil with a GS

GS for me

Hi,

A friend and I toured through Tasmania two years ago, me on a rented GS and him on his own Multistrada.
I have a 2008 GSA at home so wanted to have the same bike as it is familiar to me. My friend had taken delivery of his Multistrada a week before our trip.
We swapped bikes for a day and I could not get comfortable at all with the Multi, although I found the engine and handling to be fantastic.
Personally, I 'fit' nicely onto the GSA, like the way it handles, and I've had very few problems with it so I'm happy.
Why not ask both dealers for extended test rides, pick up the bike at 9am and return it at 5pm having taken them for long rides.
Or just hire one for a day.
Its better to find out what you like before you buy.
Good luck!
