Helmet ratings

Think you'll find that there has already been a lot of controversy regarding the method of these tests.
Not sure of the exact details but they seem to be conducted using very specific and simplistic methods bearing little or no relevance to real life crashing whilst totally ignoring certain aspects such as chin strap anchor points:nenau
Sure someone will be along soon with more accurate detail:thumb2

Cheap helmets are designed to pass tests, expensive ones are designed to save lives!!!

Sharp testing is bollox, £50 polycarb's doing better than £300 fibreglass.

At the end of the day it's your head. When i was in the bike trade and someone was moaning at the price of a lid, we used to say "10 pence helmet for a 10 pence head" very true

I spoke to someone a while ago who is in quality assurance and has visited a few helmet manufacturers, his view was the production standards in China are at least equal to and often a lot better than similar European manufacturers.

I wear Arai and AGV despite his comments.

How good and safe is your helmet, do you really have to spend £500-00 plus on the headgear? :mmmm

Probably irrelevant findings to 90% on here, since neither the Tour X, System 5 or Multitech are tested :augie :D :D

Did my own test on my Arai GT viper last Saturdeay evening, landed on my head at 30mph ish after T-boning a VW Golf that pull out in front of me.

Head did its job very well as did the back protector and my boots saved my left leg from a certain break.

I know where my money will be going ( other drivers insurance money ) back to Arai, BMW boots and Hein Gericke Jacket and pants.

How much is your head worth? you only get what you pay for in the end tests cannot recreate all real life scenarios so I will go with a hand made recognised named helmet to be on the safe side :thumb2
