Hi guys, just wondering what you boys and girls reccomend in the way of jugs...mi have a shark evolution 3 helmet, the one that can be either a full face helmet or open face, thing if it's soo blooming noisy, when doing speeds over 70mph, ie 72 :) then it's just as if I haven't got out on at all.... It also lets rain in and isn't the comfiest I've ever had... I've always had race bikes and still have my shoei x spirit vermullen but I look a doughnut with it on on a 1200gsa .. Ta guys

Shoei Neotec and ear plugs, sorted :)

No earplugs... Just my shoei is no where near as noisy

In which case, I wouldn't worry about it. Just carry on as you are and at some point in the next 5 to 10 years you'll have degraded your hearing enough that it won't bother you any more. ;)

Can I ask why you don't wear ear plugs ? Have you tried and just don't like them ? I couldn't ride without them the wind roar is way too high.

I just don't like the feel of em, I wear glasses too which is uncomfortable enough....

Some helmets are much better than others for spec wearers ! The Arai tour is an excellent helmet for those who need space Shoei are pretty good too

I fear you need a better helmet more suited to you and your bike

Unless I'm just popping to tesco I always use plugs with my shoei neotec ,
There a bit like marmite you either love em or hate em.
But I really do love my hearing .

Flip front helmets are generally always noisier than full face helmets. If you want that functionality then I would suggest earplugs are the only option, otherwise where your full face.

Earplugs it is, cheers boys...mi am hopefully getting a arai tour x4 so that may help... Again cheers

the selection pack from https://sites.google.com/site/earplugsbypost/home has 20 different sets of earplugs for you to try - earplugs are fine, you just haven't found the type that suits you. Also, watch the video by 3M to ensure you fit the earplugs properly. I quite often see people with the ear plugs just pushed into the ear hole not the ear canal - politicians touring factories shown on TV are prime examples.

I was using EAR Neons which are good but recently tried some Howard Leight Laser Lite which are so much better for my ears at least.

Custom moulded plugs every time, all day (and all night if you need to block out some other Tossers snoring at a do) comfortable and suppress more noise than disposables.

I can't have anything in my ears, it really affects my balance and gives me massive headaches. I have tried all sorts, those custom goo fitted things - I couldn't stand them and they made my ears fill up with liquid wax in about an hour....I don't use anything at all, I can't even use those headphones for your mobile phone or music station. They also are so uncomfortable, or they fall out constantly. I have a Schubert S1, it isn't fashionable, but it is comfortable and pretty quiet.

Jetjock, quick thank you for your post, I've always worn foam plugs in the past, having read the details from your post I went & bought a pair of £20 Auritech's. Wow, I couldn't believe the difference, clarity of what you need to hear and way less of all the other noise, including the Anakees when doing long motorway hauls, very impressed, cheers! :beerjug:

Well there's your answer.

You can either wear ear polugs, or you can get tinnitus and/or go deaf in the long term, whichever helmet you wear.

I'd strongly suggest and reccommend you lash out on THIS

Get a piece of strong string, leather strop, ribbon or whatever, tie a knot in each end and embed those into the silicone before you squish it into your ears, then you're far less likely to lose them or drop one as you take the other out :)

EDIT...Oops, didn't finish reading before replying....Oh well :thumb2
