This was interesting.
2 1/2 years ago I bought a Bell M5X Daytona Carbon helmet. I love it. It's very light, but rather noisy. I've recently noticed the strap was becoming rather frayed in the area where it's sinched up to the DD. It doesn't get used every day (I've got other helmets), so I was quite unhappy with that wear rate, especially on a £500 helmet.
On checking the warranty statement in the owner's book, I was surprised to see it's covered for 5 years
Putoline are the Bell distributors in the UK, so I rang them to see about warranty repair. They were adamant that the warranty is only 2 years. They were mightly shocked when I sent them a scan of the book and immediately accepted to replace the strap FOC under warranty. Their service has been fantastic. The damaged strap has been completely replaced (at the factory in Italy) and helmet returned CW a new visor fitted (clear) + a light smoke visor + some tear-offs. All FOC
