Hi seems ive got a little problem, my bike was a pre-reg bike and registered in june 2010 by Benhams, i brought it Nov and due to the weather and my work and the fact i live no where near benhams, i collected the bike in january and even than i stuck the bike in my van and its not been used till last saturday when i had it on a dyno and after a full day the battery went flat but it seem to recover!!!
Now i used the bike yesterday (monday) and after a couple hrs i noted in struggled to restart and the battery symbol came on, however after a couple of miles the battery light went out and when i got home i stuck battery on canbus charger, but this morn when i wanted to play the light came on suggesting it was not charging i tested the battery and there was plenty of charge and put my test on the battery leads and there was no charge being put into the battery at all.
So i rang Benhams to ask if they could throw some light to my issues and the tech told me the bike had a new battery in oct!! and was not used after this because i brought it, i asked why after 4 months surely a new battery lasts more than 4 months, he said the original battery only lasted one day and than the battery light would come on, so seem's the problem is still there and must be intermittent, im not impressed with benhams all they said its under warranty take it to pidcocks:mad:

Can anyone give any info or had similar probs, before i let my dealer have it to sort out.

Thx Dave

Like it or not they speak sense. Its under warranty so get a dealer to look at it. If it has had a new battery then the leads will have been checked and thats about as far as you should go. If you start removing and testing alternators then the finger can be pointed at you with the you have been messing with it so you must have broke it. Ok thats unlikely to happen but why spend time when it is BMW's job.

Speak to any BMW Motorrad dealer and ask them to fix it under the new bike warranty.

It'll be no problem for them, they back-charge BMW GB for their fees, not you the owner, under the warranty terms.

EDIT: You are the second person recently to complain about Benhams. I've no idea who they are, but I'm glad they aren't my local agent.
