HELP!!!!! Diesel put in my tank

Hi All
I’m stuck up in Kendal (Lake District) after filling up my 2015 GS LC Will diesel...

I put in approx £20 of diesel (the tank did already have a 1/3 full of petrol) and the bike is still running fine (40 miles back to hotel) but the engine management has now come on

I need some advice as to the easiest way to drain the fuel out of the tank without removing the actual tank?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!!!

You might get away with siphoning it to empty the tank then “ rinsing” it with a few liters of petrol to wash any remaining diesel out, siphon it again and then fill with clean petrol

Don’t run it until you’ve rinsed it out and refilled it

You’re going to have to remove the tank to get to the fuel pipe
Also have to remove the filter in the tank.
Remove the injector pipes and the pump to clean them out

I'd not try run it again!... and get the tank syphoned out or pumped out...... also taking the pipes from the injectors to clear them will help

Once you drained the tank, if you undo the high pressure lines and put them into a clear container. With back up power source, 3x @10s then 60 gap (with starter) will pump all fuel out of lines/filter.

You'll see once petrol comes out. Use super unleaded for couple of tankfuls.

siphon out as much as poss,REMOVE the injectors,no tools req,remove the injectors from the pipes,cycle the ignition as every time its turned on the pump will run for a couple of seconds,when no more contaminated fuel comes out ie tank completely empty then fill with petrol,cycle ignition again till fresh petrol comes out of pipes,reassemble and then start engine,do not try and shortcut any of the above,do not use starter to flush fuel the ignition on is fine.Lot of miss info above,do not remove tank no need to.

Apologies if this seems like a silly question but how do I remove the injectors without any tools (please go easy on me as I’m stuck in a dark wet hotel car park!)

Most of the replies so far are utter bollocks.
Syphon out what you can & refill with somenthing other than DERV. Petrol might do.
Now switch on and off the ignition about 12 times without starting bike.
(This will purge fuel lines.)
Now switch on again, start and ride away.
Friend fuelled with DERV in Austria. Full tank. We lost 40 mins. Bike perfect afterwards.

well tools you need are on the bike the torx under the pass seat to remove the plastic covers that go over the injectors the the clips that hold the pipes and injectors just pull off,prob should have said xtra tools!

You obviously have not done it. I have. Learn a little. Pipes are purged back to tank and diesel is so dilute as to be irrelevant.

Lift the bike up and take the fuel tank lid off.

Turn the bike upside down and give it a really good shake until all the nasty stuff comes out.

Then turn it back up the right way, kiss it better and you will be fine to go.

A mate (honest) did this whilst we were out a couple of weeks ago. We siphoned the diesel out (took ages as we were careful to get as much diesel out as possible), and refilled with petrol.
It started after a couple of attempts, and then ran perfectly.
No dismantling anything.

If I wanted to clean out the injectors I’d use petrol.
Why does everyone get all excited when a little bit of diesel gets into the petrol or vice versa? Just syphon out as much of the mixture as you can and fill with petrol. I’ve been there done that on my own bike and helped out a few people in the same suitation JJH

Can't really add anything the the existing comments but am only 25 miles away if you need any kind of assisstance. Just PM I can easily be free tomorrow if needed.
