Help! I'm being pulled by the orange side!

I had a 640 Adventure a couple of years ago and loved it. The trouble was, it was so capable that I always wanted a lot more power (on road at least, off-road it was the opposite :D ). Comfort-wise I found it OK up to 200 miles or so, after which the seat was a bit of a plank. As for reliability, not a single fault in 7K miles.
As always, it'll be a compromise. I'd take the KTM any day for off-road but saying that, the "regular" 640 may be more manageable (?), but the GS is light years better on tarmac. Maybe the KTM 950 may be worth a try?

Sell the BMW before the engine & gearbox oilseals fail and the throttle bodies leak, don't be concerned with the shaft drive its not as reliable as you think, chains are easy to lubricate with modern treatments, easy to replace and won't leak oil on to the rear brake disc.

HTH

Agreed -

But don't keep the KTM for too long - especially riding in london traffic, because the clutch actuating pivot arm will wear oval, the waterpump seals will mist/leak, the high lift camshaft will soon be wearing throught he hardning and fecking up the cam lobes/profile.

Nothings perfect :D

Hi Ian I have both the KTM 640 adventure and a GSA the 640 is a great bike, superb off road and great on A and B roads however not much good two up and a bit fiddley at oil change time. I would not want to ride it for long motorway rides as the vibes would leave my hands numb. there both very different but both have there own character but I wouldnt green lane my GSA on my own as I do the KTM.
