Good to know Tyzer, thank you.
Hope you don't need them anytime soon!Doesn't look too tricky to remove the Vario gubbins. Im currently mulling over Varios (plastic shite but a bit cheaper and less faff to 'install') versus wunderlich/touratech metal boxes
Removing the Vario side pods is a piece of cake plus the wiring, as is removing the wiring for the top carrier if you need to.
August . Vario Orders are coming throughout now so Vertu said they expect I can order soon, as their order book for varios currently closed, i prefer the look of the metal top loaders and wasnt a big fan of the previous varios , decisions devisionsHope you don't need them anytime soon!

For me the new Varios are the wrong shape i.e. too angular so that I couldn’t easily fit my Eagle Creek pack cubes that have worked wonderfully for years in the “old” rectangular Varios, and personally I didn’t need a light or central locking. So, I went for the 38l pair of Touratech Evo panniers from Rugged Roads. Excellent service from Annette and the team. Good videos on Utube showing step by step installation. Original Vario frames and hangers unbolted and in a box in the loft.August . Did you get the quick release system givi do for removing the pannier frames ? Or will you just unbolt etc to remove when not using ?I don't ride with the panniers on all the time just the top box and I don't like the look of the scaffolding so I went for frames that can be easily removed leaving the bike looking standard.
My fist choice was Wunderlich but they couldn't be supplied in time for our trip to Norway despite being assured they would be !
I went for the Givi panniers it was the only ones I could get hold of,I think they look good.BMW did me a favour really not being able to supply the varios I liked the old ones but the recent varios are just too small for a 17night trip for two.
He still had them a couple of weeks ago as I was asking about his Nav, and I asked what else was available. He had some different tinted screens too.I think @stick had a set of SW Motech Trax, I don’t know if he’s sold them with the bike or not ?
I thought about it but it's literally 8 bolts so for the time the panniers will be on I can cope with that, the vario system is brilliant but it's another example of BMW not taking a pillion into account on the 1300.Did you get the quick release system givi do for removing the pannier frames ? And the bmw top box sits well back and my wife reckons she has more space than on the 1250 so is very happy on the 1300 with the vario top box and it looks good when in small modeI thought about it but it's literally 8 bolts so for the time the panniers will be on I can cope with that, the vario system is brilliant but it's another example of BMW not taking a pillion into account on the 1300.
Having said that I'm considering the vario top case as my wife likes the low option of a topcase when not on a trip which is 90% of the time.![]()
Wrap it black to match and it would lookOne positive today after my warning lights is that I borrowed a vario top case today and it's much more comfortable for my wife,a lot more room so I'll see if one's available, not sure I like the look though with the Givi panniers ?
Not pretty though
Apart from the floor that could be my garage
Beauty in the eye of the beholderNot pretty though
Looks like something Honda would lash up
