I was using a zumo 660 and thought it was a good piece of kit, I recently changed bike to the LC which came with a Nav V. I have planned some routes and added to the sat nav, On the computer the routes look great and I thought i would press Go at the beginning of the route and it would route me to the End??, Ohhh Noooo.
Once i select the route from the trip planner it asks where i want to start from, and then provides the list of waypoints, I see t the first waypoint to ensure I am going in the right direction, the directions take me to that location ,but then the routing stops.
How do I get the unit to complete the whole route from start to Finish??
Regards
FRUSTRATED......

Doesnt sound right - after pressing go it should ask you if you want to do the route and go via your first via point - this is correct just press yes - if your route is planned correctly it will go to the first via but also then continue routing to the next - then the next then so on until your end destination. If you dont want to stop at a vuia just corry on the route and if it keeps trying to route you back to the via then cancel the via point - I do this on the smart wheel on the GSA by clicking right - scrolling down and then holding wheel for a few seconds against ignore point. then it continues on route.

Also I found that before i transfer a route I change the vias to "unannounced points" in Basecamp - or you can do this on the Nav 5 if you want - but only of the drag and drop vias for routing down the roads I want - I then leave the actual vias in place.

What did you use to create the original route. As Riktus says if the route is planned correctly (e.g. has the data that the Nav-V needs) it should indeed take you around the route.

Incidentally once you reach a "via point" just keep on riding, presuming you are headed in the right direction it should then just route you to the next waypoint/via-point.

Took some trial and error but I sussed it out

You cloud also have a look in your settings to make sure on "route calculation" you have it set to "auto recalculate" BUT this will alter your route slightly if you miss a turn, however if you have enough unannounced via points it will most likely still run the majority of the route. If you want to follow a route precisely then turn off auto recalculate and if you take a wrong turn the route will not deviate - by scrolling out of the view you can see the route in pink on the sat nav - drive back towards it and as soon as you join the route again it will continue on your expected route.

I found the more you do routes and use the system the better you plan - it will be either a setting on the nav 5 or the way you plan routes. These things are getting very clever and you need to experiment - there are some great videos on this site and on YouTube that give great instruction - also Wapping is a bit of a whiz with Sat Nav and by asking sensible questions you usually get plenty of feedback and advice.

Chose the last waypoint i.e.. your destination.

Take a bit of care though. If you are OFF your route significantly, the device will plot you a route straight to the end point, calculated according to the preferences you've set your device to.

You can avoid the problem (if it is indeed a problem) by NOT creating waypoints but creating shaping points instead; then you'll only see the start and end points. This thread, albeit written for a different device, explains it very well.
