Just serviced the bike, done the valve clearances, put it all back together and it runs fine. Am getting a slight chuffing noise as if air is escaping from somewhere on the right cylinder. Took it out for a short ride and came back with my right foot covered in oil , and oil all over the cylinder, BUT, no obvoius place for it to be leaking from. The chuffing appears to be coming from the top of the cylinder about half way along ( with everything fitted). I'm a bit stumped really. I shall re check the clearances once she has cooled down, but anyone got any other ideas ?

Wipe it down and run the revs up a bit on the stand..... that way you'll have a chance to spot the leak without the oil getting blown everywhere. Check the oil level first.:D

Nice one, sounds like a likely culprit. I'll check it out.:clap

I'd go with that spark plug seal too I also did the same on mine, it's easy to damage when when refitting the cover and you will probably need a new one now, if damaged a smear of gasket seal on the inner edge of the seal should suffice until you get a new one. It also helps to hold a new one in place when refitting. (just a smidging though)

Always have the seal on the valve cover when replacing it.

Never leave it in the head, and replace the cover.

Thanks guys. I made sure it was on the cover when I put it back, but must've disturbed it putting the cover back on. It looked a bit manky anyway. I'll get 2 new ones tomorrow from Wollaston, and have it back on the road tomorow night.:clap:thumb2
