let it settle, tipped the bike over ever so slightly and it was just over the top of the sight glass, so I think it will be OK.

pop into a chemist shop or hospital ask for a large syringe attach a piece of tubing and hey presto o2 tube works well

I've done the 'open sump plug' bit and managed to get it back having drained about 200cc of oil. Level was now at top of glass. Before draining it I had to lean bike over quite a bit to see oil level. So I wouldn't worry about it being slightly overfull.

Don't fret too much, you are not going to do any damage. When you empty the oil of any engine there will always be a little left in there, you have filled the new oil with the specified amount so no problem. The sight glass from low to full is the difference of less that half a liter.

When it shows no oil after a 20 mile run then fret.
