Hiya Airheads,
This is how I found my bike last saturday morning:blast:

P1000717two.jpg

Now, I phoned Motorworks, explained what happened and what seemed to be missing. I got these bits from them: Ignition switch 5 positions+ key, warning light panel + cover, and front head cover.

It's seems to me that something is missing. No idea what exactly! I basicaly have 5 male connections on the ignition switch and that's it nowhere to attach the other wires.
There's also this bit I don't know where to connect.

There's nothing on the haynes concerning this part of the bike. All I have is a wirring diagram for R80G/S model (which should do since it's more or les the same bike) but it's hard to work it out...

Can anybody out there help?
What other parts do I need?
How do I reconnect everything step by step?

Got a trip to France planned this friday. Can it be done?

Thanks for watching, waiting for another shower of wisdom. The GSer community saved me before on two occasions and I have no doubt it will happen again...
Cheers
Vince

Sorry to hear this Vince, if it's any good I just started pulling an 80 g/s apart today in preperation for the trip to The Gambia and took loads of pictures for reference when rebuilding including the instrument binacle.

PM me your email and I'll post some over to you for reference they look pretty much the same as yours so may help.

Thanks Thunder,
I've just PMed you my email adress.

John, I'm not sure the voltmeter socket was pluged onto anything before... Does it need to be??
Would you know how I can connect the wires going onto the 8 pins circle on the warning light panel?P1000720two.jpg

Some photo's of my '88 R100GS, which like yours doesn't have a big heavy fairing

Thanks guys,
Crystal clear now! No rev meter on my bike so I'm only missing the plug for the instrument panel then. Would you know where I could find the part? They don't seem to have it in Motorworks.
Maybe a silly question but can the bike still run without the wires being connected to the panel? I would think yes, but just to double check...

Thanks for your help, I knew you would sort it out!

Chances are that plug is part of a complete loom.

Could be worth checking with a breakers for one. :nenau

Sorted!
Will have to do without control panel at the moment but I just tried it and it works!
Thanks for helping me bringing my beloved GS back to life.
I'll be back for sure
Cheers Vince

Vince,

Sorry to hear about your problems.

I completely re-wired my '89 100GS last year and kept all the old wiring - including the plug that fits the dash lights.

There isn't much time, but if you PM me your address I'll get the headlamp loom in the post to you in the morning.

Bob.

Vince,

My old main loom was posted to you "special Delivery" this morning. It should arrive tomorrow - hopefully in time for you to fix the bike for your trip to France.

Post some pics of your holiday :thumb2

Best of luck.

Bob.

When you say "Vandalised" do you mean they tried to steal it (as it looks like to me) or they were after the parts (It wisnae me!) or they just trashed it for fun?
Have you had a good look around for the bits? They could still be around.

I assume Vincent got away OK ? ? :nenau

I haven't heard anything from him.

Here's hoping his bike's OK :thumb2 .

Bob.
