Back in the Carpathians... once bitten you never l
Yesterday had a problem starting the bike..
When it was hot found myself needing to use the choke - probally needs a good service and tune..

But later on a couple of hours from home, tried starting the bike and at first seemed like starter not engaging, big drain - zeroing the clock etc.

Eventually started - and rode home with out stopping.

She now seems to start ok - but there is a strange noise after she fires and finger is off the button.. a sort of 'vroooooo' almost whooshing sound... if that makes any sense?

Is this a sign of demise of the starter? Would it be precautionary to pick up a replacement motor when I am back in UK in oct? Or is it something else...

There are a couple of threads here dealing with removal cleaning and lubrication of the starter, pretty easy to do and they often work better for it, your problem might be a weak battery though.
