20 years since I’ve done a tour of France and then it was a three week’er, I’m hoping you knowledgeable lot can help me please in creating a route with a little tour of France.
Leaving from the Euro Port Netherlands on the 9th May and sailing back to Hull on the 18th (9 days)
We were thinking of a quick blast on the first day to Reims to get the Netherlands and Belgium out of the way, Reims being a starting point, then hoping to head towards Andora with the route riding through some of the Vosages, Gorges de l’Ardeche and any other great roads on the way.
Hoping to do upto 250 miles a day, if that’s possible without taking too many A roads (Peage motorways), would obviously prefer National or D roads.
4 Days out and four days back with a day leeway , is it asking too much to get to get to the Ardeche never mind Andora?, is 250 miles a day too much?
The roads are far more important than the distance and Andora was a target and not set in stone, far from it! It’s more nostalgia of dipping my feet in the fountain in Ax-les-Thermes before riding the great mountain road up than wanting to go back.
