here we go again,how do I??

ok, this is the thing,
how do I send a route, that I have put together on the map source and then I want to send this route to a m8 who has got map source on his pc, I have clicked on the file menu, clicked on email,files get attached,send to m8,but he can not get it to open??he just gets a load of tosh, now when he sends me a route I can open it just fine,no problem...and he is doing this the same way as I am..
So I have tried to copy just the map, but I can not work out how to do this, I have often seen you guys put a map/route up on some of these threads, so I must be able to put a copy of the map onto the email, as a picture???
I have also tried to send from my saved routes from the route folder,still no good, ok so I'm one can short of a 6 pack when it comes to pc. stuff, but it's doing my head in now,and as this forum has always got me sorted out before on other things I'm sure some very nice person will put me on track, thanks for taking the time to read this,take care and ride safe....spock

it may be that your m8 has a downlevel version of mapsource, I believe that mapsource 'routes and stuff' now comes as .GDP ( or similar files), if you are on an up to dat version you can read these and the old format ones, but if your m8 has an old version he'll be scuppered..... just my 2p worth.........

Tell your m8 to download the latest version of MapSource!

You're probably sending him a .gdb file. He won't be able to open this if he's running an old version.

thanks guys, this is what I had been thinking,I have just loaded the latest v7, and his has not got this,never mind thanks for the help...

Make sure you've both got the same software loads in Mapsource and your units too - any conflict in the software and or mapping versions may cause problems...

Spock. You do know that your mate can downlaod the latest Mapsource from the Garmin website for free don't you.

It just sounds from your post as if you were giving up on it. It is quite simple - even I managed it, and I'm as thick as they come.

whereas what you say about Mapsource upgrades is correct, the v7 Spock is referring to is the European City Navigator software version, which must be upgraded at cost ($150 + VAT when I did it recently), unless his mate is for some reason entitled to a free upgrade...
