My GS TE is 5 months and 6000mls old, it is going in for a new rear shock and 4th gear gear is starting to vibrate.
My '14 GS, new shock at 12,000mls and 4th gear vibrating badly enough even for the dealer to acknowlege there was a problem, got rid of at 18,000 as was fed up with the gearbox generally.

.......... 4th gear gear is starting to vibrate.

What exactly does it do as I can't seem to tell the difference. At the end of a day it is a "Tractor". My old '64 GS TE. Had done nearly 20k before I sold it on. I had GSAP module replaced under warranty as on downshifts periodically it would skip 2nd and jump from 3rd in to N, or worse 1st gear.

Poor show and quality

Why not change to another brand??

My GS is the lowered chassis version.
Being a shortarse not many bikes fit that well, I am getting to old to struggle with fully loaded bike while the Doris gets on the bike. Triumph make a lowered Explorer but it is even heavier than the GS. I like the GS as it fits me nicely and the Doris likes it on the back.
I have no complaints with Wollastons who are dealing with the matter.

Symptoms of Shock failure. The damping has not changed, it is the preload disappearing. The shock carries on working with all the movements in the different settings it should do but with about 3/4" reduced starting point ride height. The problem is not sudden so you don't notice at first. What made me start to question things was that on my last boys and toys trip to France I touched the foot brake/centre stand down mid corner a few times.
After that trip I put the Doris and the topbox on the bike for Sunday trundle, the bike felt vague at the front and was running wide, then it dawned on me that I could nearly flatfoot when sitting on the bike. Off to the dealer and hear we are.
4th gear vibration is noticable between 2500 and 3500 rpm under steady/light load and is a rythmic pulsing thrum, it is not too bad yet and is not going to stop me going away soon for a two weeker fully loaded to France, I will discuss it further with the dealer when I get back.
