Hertfordshire Green Lanes - RUPP challenges

I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN SEEING SOME OF THE HERTS BYWAYS ETC
ANYTHING SUITABLE FOR A BIGGUN[KTM950]
ZEDTOURS

Now that it's dried out a lot of the Byways will be Ok although it was only 2 weekgs ago I had by DRZ stuck upto it's axles down a new route I've found.

I'll be posting a ride out for a 100 mile loop I've put together soon

I'm definitely up for a good off-road ride-out around here, been trying to string a few Byways together but staying legal seems to mean mainly riding on road. Mr Pavey cancelled his May Pyrenees trip so I'd like to get at least a bit dusty next month.

There are a surprising number of legal byways and UCRs in Herts between Luton and Stevenage and also between Baldock and Buntingford. I know it is a shame looking at the map and seeing all the RUPPs that have now been lost since NERC.
I also find it a great shame that I moved up to North Wales before I discovered how much fun green laning is and had only ridden a few of the Herts lanes on the GS before moving.
Have fun:thumb2

I've a 100 mile hertfordsire loop which includes a lot of valiadated byways and UCR's.

As Hew says check the betwwen Stevenage and Luton and the UCR by Bendish has had the TRO lifted.

I'll post an evening ride soon... what time can people get away by?

Most days I can be ready to roll from Stevenage by 19.00, with a bit of warning and no afternoon appointments - anytime.

Green Lanes in Hertfordshire

Hi, I am new to this site and fairly new to my GS having only owned it since December but having done now 5,000 miles, unfortunately all on-road.
I would be very interested in joining any outings in green lanes or even off road anywhere near Hertfordshire if anyone is interested in inviting me?

Evening Ride?

With a little warning, I can normally be around from about six in the evening

Ah, you're back. Stevenage.

Away for the next few days and a Brecon Beacons ride-out on 16th but up for some off-roading after that.

Swamp Rider, siholley,

You guys have Hertfordshires best on your door steps... get your OS maps out and check out these Byways Ardley towards Wood End, Watton on Stone towards Datchworth and Offley back towards Hitchin. They can all be riden on a GS with road tyres.

What tyres are you guys running? Any ride I'll be doing at the moment will also include lanes with mud.

I am currently on the road tyres that were standard fit. But would think in the future about getting a second set of secondhand spoked wheels with knobblies fitted.

Will go out saturday and get an OS map and have a look. Thanks for the help with start and finish points for the lanes. I appreciate it.

Any future rides you plan that would be ok for road tyres perhaps you could let me know.

Thanks a lot.

drop me a PM when you have your maps and I'll help you mark up your local routes... You are lucky in Hitchin because some of the best lanes sit between you, Luton, Kimpton and Whitwell

Fantastic, thank you very much. I really appreciate your help. Will let you know as soon as I have the maps.
Cheers

Hi Wreford

I know most of the lanes you suggest, been doing them on my mountain bike for years. Done a few on the GS but would appreciate some company. Have a set of spoked wheels with TKC 80s on.

I presume I have to be a subscribed tosser to pm, will do so once I've sorted that.

Cheers
