Has anybody had any experience (good or bad) of BMW Inverness, since Arnold Clark took them over? Looking to get some work done on the bike. Never used them before.

I have used HF in the past and the previous mechanic was excellent (Lithuanian I think) who certainly knew his bikes. if they have a new mech from Mitchells who generally only know used machines then he probably won't be BMW trained.
I'm going into HF tomorrow as mines due an oil change and will just about trust them with that, so I'll make some enquiries about servicing etc. My problem is nearest next BMW dealer is in reality Keith (Motorrad Central) which is nearly 200 miles away from me (400 mile round trip).

I and some others warned HF that if they lost the previous mech they would lose not only my custom but others too. But what do Arnold Clarks care about customer service ????

I'll post back here tomorrow after I've been there, but don't hold your breath as to a favourable reply.

I cant imagine anybody having a BMW franchise and not having a BMW competent mechanic, it just wouldnt happen, would it:confused:

what is wrong with john clark in dundee? brian malcolm is the service manager, they seem to do a good enough job but heigh ho what do i know being of a naive nature.:mmmm

I can recommend Mitchell's in Inverness, they're really good lads in there. If it has to be a main dealer, not much help to you, I know..

I don't understand your attitude to me stating my nearest BMW dealer is MC in Keith ?? my understanding was that JC was a car dealer not bikes, my idiotic mistake eh ?

Mitchells are fine, I've known Kevin for the last 10 years, but in this case they aren't BMW main dealers.

busy builder, sorry didn't mean to cause offence, just my way of speaking. yes jc in dundee are motorrad but don't think they do the bikes in aberdeen.

Today I went into HF and spoke to Ivor, he did confirm that the original BMW mech had left but apparently he's returning shortly. Ivor didn't say why he'd gone or even know why he was returning. they are using some of their owm BMW car mechs to do any work needed in the short term.

On another note, the R1200RS id due in about 14th May, my demo ride is booked in :D

It's a wee bit out your way but 'The Keith Garage' (in Keith strangely enough) do an excellent job and they know BMs inside out (the owner has several of his own)!

Highly recommended.

Mike.

I think I see where this went wrong................

Motorrad Central is in Dalkeith (Midlothian), but coincidentally - Keith Garage also is able to service BMWs

Al :D

Me and swmbo were in the Pittetrail Inn a few years back. A posh angler type chappie from London came in with a hook in his finger and needed someone to take it oot. Anyway a nurse (on holiday) said she could take it oot but needed a knife, the posh chappie said he'd buy a round of drinks if it was removed okay. So big laddie (as in Giant Haystacks) behind the bar got his Bowie knife out (about 8" blade) the posh chappie fainted !!

The big laddie behind the bar would be Hector (the owner). He's still there, still pulling pints.

Have used Aberdeen a couple of times, they are well kitted out for bikes. No complaints whatsoever with the service provided.
