I'm in a similar position to yourself. A new member who is looking to sell a 2005 Yam R1 and buy a GS. Unsure whether it will be an 1150 Adv, 1200 or 1200Adv. I've tested them all from Vines at Guildford and loved them all although i prefer the looks of the Adventures. I was also intimidated by the sheer size of the beast but after riding for 5 mins i felt totally at home on it. 1.5 hours later and i'm back at Vines knowing I want one . Now just need to decide which one?????

Welcome to Insanity Central Paul, and Mr McNeedham too.

It was easy for me. My first proper bike was an R100RS, and I've stuck with Bimmers since apart from brief spells on an ST1100 and a Tour Glide. But BMW twins do take a bit of getting used to; although once you're used to them they're addictive.

I've not ridden a 1200, but plenty of people round here love 'em. It's a bit complicated for me - I prefer the old stuff that's a piece of piss to repair and spanner at home.
