Just thought I'd check in and say hi. Always been a sportsbike guy but following a brief euro trip last year where I found things a little uncomfortable, I've decided to give a GS a try.

Only picked it up this week so very early days but really enjoyed the journey home. I've got plenty of forum reading to do now but rest assured i know where to come with my questions now.

Anyway, I've hopefully successfully attached a photo for you to see, and thanks to all those who work to provide such a useful community like this.

Cheers

Hello ukgser73, which bike you got & where's the images? ..and omfg you have already subscribed (arse kisser!!!1), welcome & how long were you stalking us for?

:friday

Aloha!

Welcome to the forum. As you say, it's a very useful community and there is a mass of knowledge on offer - almost any problem you may encounter someone else has already been there.

So where's the pics? What've you got?

Ha, very funny......thought I'd do the decent thing up front, plus you never know I may choose to cruise those classifieds!

Only stumbled on this place last week and bought the bike on a bit if an impulse.....all just seemed to fall in place very quickly.

I'll try and suss the photos out later, but it's an 08 800gs in what i think are called in these circles bumblebee colours. Got a fair few accessories on it which is what i wanted.

Now i'm off the iphone, hopefully this works fine.....

What do you think? it'll never be this clean again so i'll be keeping these to remind me of how it can look!

Nice, but some bastuurd has put a wheelie bin on the rack....:blast

Science-fiction make's science fact.

One thing I would do is remove the tax disc & sellotape it all over on both sides (creating a fairly good waterproofing effect). Then place it back into the (shyte easy to steal) holder.

:thumb2

Did you get it with the standard seat also?

ps: You only need some adventure-spec crash bars & (Val -vendors) muffs and you are set of winter riding ;)

The thread patterns should be facing into each other. Rear should splay the water towards the outer edge of the tyre & inversely for the front. As the front wheel is travelling forward in rotation breaking water into the grooves and away.

Is it possible to get a closer image of your front tyre & wheel ukgser73, or an e-fight might break out. :type

That was quick! I've still only got Bat Wings so what do i know!

I'm injecting it into the local lexicon, trollet.

I read minds also, no I wont do that. Most people hate battle-wings, I for one love them. Done 4 or 5 tyre types & next year I'll be going back to them for summer.

Hi, i see what you mean, it does kin of look like its mounted the wrong way round so i've just been out and checked.........

there is only a direction arrow on the right of the tyre (as you sit on the bike) and that shows the tyre is correctly fitted - the direction arrow is clocklwide when looking at it from the right side (if that makes sense)

Close up photo if it helps settle anything:

Again, I'll plead ignorance - i'm new to all this biking lark. Just out of curiosity how do you rate the bats against anakees or tourances?

Over the last few years I have always covered my tax discs with cling film before fitting to the holder, easier than sellotape IMO. :thumb

Andy.

That looks mint & brilliant fast thread reply with image. So, it was stored in a garage I presume. Is it getting the same TLC treatment with you..

Yep, i think it has been well loved and receipts show its certainly seen its fair share of main dealers. Previous owner obviously had a big wallet.

I'll try to keep it looking good but i dont have a good history of doing that, plus i'm really keen to try this bike out in the mucky stuff. Been reading about ACF50 is it, should i apply a liberal coat of that stuff now?

I'll start a separate thread on this because i'm keen to know what I can do to keep it looking tidy, particularly given i'd rather be riding than cleaning.
