Seen on the A44 going into Worcester late this morning, a R1200GS with Hi Viz (yellow) relective panels on the tank (and maybe the beak as well). Looked as if they had been professionally cut too. Thought it was a police bke at first as the rider had a hi-viz jacket on too. Very effective and certainly sttod out a mile. :thumb

So, heres the question, does anybody know who it was and where I can get me a set of them there hi-viz panels?

Cheers,

MM.

Thanks

Thanks guys, checked out Hummers Site but unfortunately none of the pictures come even close to what I saw. ie: The entire panels were covered in a reflective vinel somewhat similar to that seen on police or paramedic bikes.

Thanks for the link though. I'll contact Humvee as they might be able to come up with something or point me in the right direction.

If you put things like "high viz" or "reflective" in Google you get a range of stickers, pre cut or tape for you to do your own. For Pan Eurobordoms etc you can get the whole bike and look nearly like the "real thing":augie

I have used stickers for a while and cut my own from tape or sheet. I try to keep it subtle but usually have plenty of red at the back as its the bstrd behind that you have least control over:augie Used 'em for years when commuting "sooth" and they worked well.

Likee Humvees stuff especially the Dakar Tosser... Best used to be the ex-met bikes driven by couriers... good "presence":D

Those bikes belong to Worcester County Council Highways Department. The job is to ride around all day surveying for Highways damage.

http://www.bluelite.co.uk/materials.php will be able to supply you pre cut and sealed battenburg (the edges need sealing to stop water ingress)

I have a mate that supplies diamond grade reflective vinyl to the police. He can cut you whatever shape you want if you supply a template.
Can supply reflective vinyl in many coulours, even black! Yes black, stick a graphic on a black car and it is invisible till you shine a light on it then it shine out!

Will get his email if you want me to, just PM me.

Hi Viz GS

Hi Guys,

I managed to get the name of the guy that supplied the The Worcestershire County Council Highways Dept Bikes. A chap called John from Designer Signs in Cinderford, Gloucestershire. this guy is a biker himself and an artist. All his designs are unique and after I'd look at some of his previous work I was happy to let him loose on my beloved GS. Because of time limitations the bike is only two thirds complete and one area needs taking off and a bit of a rethink (Top Box).

Any way here are the pictures of the work so far. All comments welcome (good and bad). I do realise that it won't be every-bodies cup of tea but I have to say that personally... I like it.

It is only effective if the dozy ba*****s are actually looking.
I was sitting on a straight bit dual carriageway two days ago in daylight in a fully Battenburged Ford S Max with two sets of rear blues and 4 sets of rear reds illuminated plus the hazards on protecting a broken down car that some half witt had left in the inside live lane and locked up when it broke down and went to do her shopping .
Luckily for the dogs in my vehicle I was half on the grass verge because despite standing alongside with full Hi Viz two dozy morons mangaged to miss seeing me till the last minute swerved to avoid the S Max and hit the cones between me and the broken down.
Figure that one out !!!!!

Nightmare, don't envy you having to stop in such situations with work - like you say, no guarantees but glad you are safe.

Even with fend-in / fend-off there are big risks of being stopped where folks are not used to having to stop (actually, this applies anywhere with dozy drivers :().

So you've rule out dozy drivers - now you will become a target for airbuses trying to land on you ....

Erm, it's different. But not in a good way

Give Paddy dakar a look...:thumb

Thank you all for your comments. Rspecially the one about the white reflectors on the back. I spoke to John earlier today and we're gonna take them off and have a rethink (probably go for the standard chevrons after all) but who knows.

As I said I know its not everyones cuppa but how boring would life be if we all did the same...?

Will post more pic's when it's all complete. In the mean time I'm goona have a look at those 50w HID lights so that I will have done all possible to 'See & be Seen.':wave:wave
