HID aux light not working?

I have Hella DE spotlight supplied by Tourtec about 4 yrs ago when switched on bulb flickers but light does not come on, have changed to a new bulb.
Advice on what to check next would be very welcome.

Hi Keith

Check the earth from the light, Take it off, clean it up then re assemble. Make sure you do both ends. It sounds like a dodgy earth, but i could be wrong.

If this doesnt work, try swapping the ballast to the other one temporary

I had the same problem with a T/T unit.

And like you i presumed the bulb - aren't HID bulbs expensive

After testing properly ( that'll teach me) it was the ballast unit.
It was a diode in the ballast. The ballast unit doesn't come apart, but you can get deep inside with specialist soldering equipment, so i gave it to a computer repair man who fixed it while i watched.

Cost £20, and worked perfectly the 3 years ever since .

Just need to source replacement.
